From outside Buckingham Palace, several Londoners and tourists recorded the spectacular performance.
The Royal Guard played Bohemian Rhapsody, after Queen’s biographical film won a Golden Globe for Best Picture.
“Magnificent”, “Buckingham Palace has never been so great!” And “I love our national anthem”, were some of the comments in networks about this unexpected interpretation.
According to the Daily Mail, the Queen’s guards also played a Game of Thrones themed tune in honor of actor Richard Madden, who in that series plays Robb Stark. This Sunday, he won a Golden Globe for his role in the Bodyguard series.
The English media also recalled that in September of last year the Band of Wales Guards played the song Respect, by Aretha Franklin, to honor the singer after her death, in August 2018.
